A special exhibition on Asian civilizations kicked off on Thursday at Hunan Museum in Changsha, central China's Hunan Province, showcasing many precious cultural treasures from 10 Asian countries, including China, Syria, Lebanon, Cambodia, Pakistan and Mongolia.

The exhibition titled "We Asia: Ancient Asian Civilizations Exhibition" features 222 pieces of cultural relics and covers a wide range of categories, including statues, wares, coins and containers.

According to Yu Yanjiao, the curator, the selected exhibits show the splendor of Asian civilizations, from some of the most historical countries, such as China, Iran and Afghanistan, to ancient Mesopotamia and Indus Valley civilizations.

"Through the exhibition, we hope that visitors can appreciate the charm of the diverse cultures of Asian countries, and see the exchange and integration of eastern and western civilizations in Asian countries," said Yu.

The event, highlighting diverse ancient legacies of different Asian countries, depicts the origin and development of Asian civilizations and the cultural and trade exchanges between the nations, drawing a large number of visitors.

Nouman Tahir, a Pakistani student, now living in the provincial capital Changsha, said he was impressed by a female pottery statue, a rare relic dating back to 3000 B.C. in Pakistan.

"I once saw it in a museum in Pakistan. This exhibition offers the Chinese audience a great opportunity to appreciate the beautiful Pakistani cultural relics, and I am very proud," said Tahir.

In addition to the Pakistani statue, the exhibition also presents many notable, time-honored treasures such as over-4,000-year-old silver cup with goat pattern from Afghanistan, gold coins issued by the Achaemenid Persian Empire (550–330 B.C.), and a 2,000-year-old Millefiori glass bowl unearthed in the Lebanese capital Beirut.
