South Korea reported 1,378 more cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, setting a new record for the daily increase in number of cases, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
The total caseload has climbed to 166,722, with the death toll at 2,038.
The country will raise anti-coronavirus restrictions to the highest level in Seoul and some neighboring regions for two weeks starting Monday, Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum said on Friday.
