In 1977, at the third Plenary Session of the 10th CPC Central Committee, Deng Xiaoping signaled to the world that the CPC and the country would devote themselves unstintingly to achieving modernization.

What followed in the years to come stunned the world, as the CPC guided by Deng Xiaoping pushed through a series of innovative reforms that ushered into existence a form of socialism that would see China's economic development powering ahead into the 21st century.
