More than 10 million people were placed under fresh COVID-19 restrictions and a curfew in the Thai capital Monday, as the country is grappling with a surge of cases worsened by the highly infectious Alpha and Delta variants.
Thailand's government also decided to adjust its COVID-19 vaccination policy by mixing the Sinovac vaccine with the AstraZeneca vaccine in a bid to enhance immunity against the virus amid rising new infections.
The southeast Asian country has so far recorded more than 345,000 cases and 2,791 deaths.
