The wandering herd of wild Asian elephants in southwest China's Yunnan Province took a break from their trek to enjoy a nice dust bath last Saturday in the wild near Yuxi City.

The elephants were spotted resting at a dirt pit, throwing damp dirt on each other's backs. The babies in the herd rolled here and there in the dirt pit, enjoying the dust bath.

According to experts, such activities help to cool them down and protect their skin from the sun.

In the video, two baby elephants seemed reluctant to leave the pit. One was rolling around and playing in the dirt while the other one had a nap. When the herd was ready to continue their journey, the little elephants were still delighting in the fun dust bath.

The elephants used to live in the Mengyangzi Nature Reserve of the Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve. The herd started their migration northward in March of last year.
