Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday said a bus carrying Chinese workers plunged into a ravine after a mechanical failure resulting in leakage of gas caused a blast.

Nine Chinese and three Pakistani nationals lost their lives according to preliminary reports, the Pakistani ministry said in a statement.

Further investigation into the blast is underway and local authorities are providing all possible assistance to the injured. 

China's Foreign Ministry condemned the blast and asked Pakistan to thoroughly investigate the incident.
