Tokyo reports 1,149 new COVID-19 cases 9 days ahead of the Olympics

Tokyo reported over 1,149 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday with nine days to go until the Olympic Games begin on July 23, broadcaster NHK reported.

It marks the first time in two months that the Olympics host city reported more than 1,000 new infections.
