One person was tested positive for H5N6 avian influenza virus in Bazhong City, southwest China's Sichuan Province and has been hospitalized, said local authorities on Thursday.  

The 55-year-old man showed symptom of fever on June 30 and was tested positive for the virus on July 6.

Local authorities have activated an emergency response and sterilized the area. According to assessment by experts, risks of a large-scale spread of the virus are very low.
