The Museum of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Thursday made its public debut. Located near Beijing's Olympic Park in the northern part of the city, the museum accepts online appointments for free visits.

Visitors can make appointments with ID cards or passports at least three days in advance on its official website.

More than 2,600 pictures and 3,500 pieces or exhibits are on display. Among the items is the manuscript of Karl Marx's notes from Brussels.

The museum attracted thousands of visitors to pay tribute to the CPC's centenary history on the first day. Despite brisk demand, the museum limited the daily visiting capacity to 3,000 for COVID-19 prevention.

The museum completed construction in May, following 1,000 days of work by nearly 50,000 people.

The magnificent architecture takes the shape of the Chinese character "gong," which looks like a horizontal H. "Gong" means workers or labor in Chinese, implying that the CPC is the vanguard of the Chinese working class, the Chinese people, and the Chinese nation.
