China's annual production capacity for COVID-19 vaccines reached 5 billion doses this month, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced.

Over 1.4 billion doses have been administered domestically, according to Tian Yulong, MIIT chief engineer.

Up to 570 million doses have also been sent abroad by China to aid the global fight against the COVID-19 virus, Tian said.
