The Lao government on Monday extended current lockdown measures for 15 days till August 3, in a bid to curb COVID-19 infections.

Thipphakone Chanthavongsa, deputy head of the prime minister's office, said at a press conference on Monday that the extension was necessary because of a risky situation in neighboring countries and a large number of migrant workers returning home to Laos every day.
