Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday said Beijing will continue to recognize Algeria as an important partner of cooperation amid the new condition of strengthening ties with developing countries.

The win-win cooperation between China and Algeria has great potential and room for development, Wang said, adding that Beijing encourages more Chinese companies to invest in Algeria.

Wang made the remarks when meeting with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during his stay in Algiers, capital of Algeria, the last leg of his recent visit after Syria and Egypt.

On his side, Tebboune first congratulated the Communist Party of China as this year marks the 100th anniversary of its founding.

Algeria and China shared traditional friendship and mutual trust, the president said, hoping to deepen cooperation with Beijing in fields including trade, investment, energy and mineral, and infrastructure.

During Wang's meeting with his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra, the Chinese diplomat thanked Algeria for playing a positive role in the restoration of China's legitimate rights at the UN 50 years ago.

China highly appreciated Algeria for its strong support in issues concerning China's core interests, Wang added.

Wang noted that China would continue to work with Algeria and other developing countries in preserving the legal rights of all developing countries in promoting their voices in international issues.

For his part, Lamamra spoke highly of the traditional friendship between the two countries.

He also touched on the restoration of China's UN status. That was a historic achievement that balanced international relations, he said.

The two diplomats later addressed a joint press conference where Wang vowed that China will continue to fulfill Algeria's COVID-19 vaccination needs in its fight against the pandemic.

China to continue unite with developing countries

When asked about China's future plans with developing countries, Wang made the country's stance clear. China will forever breathe with the developing countries, he said.

The China of today - with its rapid development - will continue to make contributions for promoting the interests of all developing countries, Wang said.

China is the representative of developing countries, and also countries who don't ally with other nations, Lamamra said.

If China plays its role, democratization will be realized for international relations, and the world will be more balanced, he added, hoping to see China play a great role in the United Nations and the UN Security Council.
