Record rainstorms have swamped central China's Henan Province since July 17. Massive rescue and relief efforts are underway to deal with the impact of the prolonged heavy rainfall. The provincial meteorological bureau has raised the emergency response for meteorological disasters to level I for Xinxiang City, and made preparations for possible natural disasters triggered by persistent heavy rainfall.
