South Korea reports record daily COVID-19 infections as it battles Delta variant
South Korea has reported a daily record of over 1,700 coronavirus cases as the country is battling a surge of the Delta variant. The government last week put the capital Seoul and neighboring areas under a semi-lockdown. Health officials said the latest distancing rules introduced about ten days ago have not been effective to contain the spread. So far, only 32 percent of the country's 52 million people have received at least one vaccine jab.
