The Chinese mainland recorded 48 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, 12 local transmissions reported in east China's Jiangsu Province and 36 from overseas, the latest data from the National Health Commission showed on Friday.

In addition, 35 new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 451 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

This brings the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland to 92,462, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 11,971 (11,690 recoveries, 212 deaths)

Macao: 56 (53 recoveries)

Taiwan: 15,511 (12,456 recoveries, 782 deaths)
