South Korea extends social distancing rules in capital area for 2 weeks

South Korean health authorities have announced the extension of social distancing rules in the greater Seoul area for another two weeks.The country is battling its worst outbreak since the beginning of the pandemic. Daily infections have been above 1,000 for the past two weeks. The vaccination rollout has been slow and the Delta variant has been spreading. A majority of new cases are in the densely populated Seoul metropolitan area, but officials have warned the virus is spreading beyond the capital region.
