The death toll has risen to 63 after heavy rainfall battered central China's Henan Province, local officials said on Sunday. Five more people remain missing.

Over 11.44 million people in the province have been affected by the flooding and more than 1.38 million people have been relocated, local government said.

The record downpours since July 16 have also caused damage to farm crops and flattened 24,474 houses in Henan.

The rainfall has since weakened and in several places, including provincial capital Zhengzhou, relief work is underway.

So far, 94 percent of bus lines in Zhengzhou have resumed operation and communication base stations have been fully restored in Zhengzhou's main urban areas.
