The Chinese mainland recorded 71 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, with 31 being local transmissions in east China's Jiangsu Province and 40 from overseas, the latest data from the National Health Commission showed Tuesday.

In addition, 20 new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 431 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

This brings the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland to 92,676, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 11,978 (11,701 recoveries, 212 deaths)

Macao: 59 (53 recoveries)

Taiwan: 15,582 (12,603 recoveries, 786 deaths)
