Japan logs highest daily spike of 8,000 new COVID-19 cases

Newly reported daily COVID-19 cases in Japan spiked to a record high of more than 8,000 on Wednesday, broadcaster NHK reported.

The all-time high comes just after Tokyo, hosting the Olympics since last week, logged a record of 3,177 daily COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.
