Thanks to long-term and unremitting efforts, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau has made remarkable achievements in ecological conservation, and its function as an ecological security barrier has remained stable and improved. It has not only protected the ecological environment and improved people's well-being, but also made a major contribution to global ecological security. Tibet has become one of the regions with the best ecological environments in the world.

In July 2021, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, stressed the importance of ensuring protection of the environment and sustainable development of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau during his visit to Tibet.
