The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its masking guidelines on Tuesday, recommending that even vaccinated people return to wearing masks indoors in regions where the virus is spreading rapidly.

U.S. coronavirus cases have been rising due to the Delta variant, which emerged in India but has quickly spread and now accounts for more than 80 percent of U.S. coronavirus cases.

So far, the country has recorded over 34 million cases and 611,251 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
