Kim Jong Un, the top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), visited the China-DPRK Friendship Tower Wednesday on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

Kim laid a wreath at the tower, with words written on the ribbon that read, "we pay noble respect in the name of all the Korean people," the state media said.

He paid tributes to the martyrs of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) who joined the 1950-53 Korean War.

"The noble soul and exploits of the Chinese people who aided the sacred historic struggle of the Korean people at the cost of their blood when the DPRK was undergoing the harshest and most difficult trials will remain immortal," Kim was quoted as saying.
