East China's Jiangsu Province reported 48 new local COVID-19 cases, including 47 in the provincial capital Nanjing, on Wednesday. 

Nanjing authorities held a press conference on the city's recent outbreak on Thursday morning. CGTN reporter Yang Chengxi cites officials at the press conference that the Delta variant has been identified in Nanjing's outbreak, and cases in five provinces across China are linked to the cluster infections in Nanjing.
