For over 40 years, China has been steadfastly pursuing its policy of reform and opening up. For the Chinese people, the results have been spectacular. They are now enjoying a standard of living way beyond anything they could have dreamed of, 40 years ago. But China has always insisted that its opening up must also be good for the whole world. At a time when the pandemic is encouraging anti-globalization sentiments and trade rivalries are growing more acute, China and her president are showing greater determination than ever to use trade and investment as a way of bringing the world together.
