The Chinese mainland continues to battle a new COVID-19 outbreak, fueled by the Delta variant. Professor Wu Zhiwei, director of the Center for Public Health Research at the Medical School of Nanjing University, shares his insights, saying the imported infection and Delta variant are the two factors that led to the surge in Nanjing. Vaccines are still effective against Delta variant but the efficacy is reduced.
