Delta variant accounts for more than 93% of COVID-19 cases in the U.S.

The Delta variant, including several sub-lineages of the strain, now accounts for an estimated 93.4 percent of coronavirus circulating in the United States during the last two weeks of July, figures from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed.

The highly transmissible strain accounts for even more than 98 percent of circulating virus in regions including Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.
