Designed by Joris Laarman and built by Dutch robotics company MX3D, the 12-meter structure was printed using 4,500 kilograms of stainless steel over six months and assembled over the canal this year. /CFP

The team said 3D-printing technology allows for more efficient structures and reduces material usage. /CFP

"This causes significant weight reduction and reduced impact for parts manufactured in the tooling, oil and gas and construction industries," MX3D told Dezeen. /CFP
