The Chinese mainland recorded 124 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, with 80 being local transmissions and 44 from overseas, the latest data from the National Health Commission showed on Friday.

In addition, 58 new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 557 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

This brings the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland to 93,498, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 12,002 (11,721 recoveries, 212 deaths)

Macao: 63 (56 recoveries)

Taiwan: 15,753 (13,001 recoveries, 791 deaths)
