The Association of Southeast Asian Nations' (ASEAN) new special envoy on Myanmar said on Saturday he planned to visit the country, although no date has yet been set, according to Reuters.
Second Minister of Foreign Affairs Erywan bin Pehin Yusof of Brunei was appointed special envoy earlier this week to assist with the settlement of issues faced by Myanmar.
His appointment was welcomed by the United Nations, with Secretary-General Antonio Guterres calling it an important step towards the implementation of the consensus adopted at the ASEAN leaders' meeting on April 24.
