The Taliban militants captured Zaranj, the capital of Nim-roz province in the south and said they have taken control of the governor's house, police headquarters, and other government buildings. They also killed the country's chief media officer, who was shot at a mosque in Kabul Friday. CGTN talked to Wang Jin, associate professor at the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies at Northwest University. He helped us understand the impact of this gain by the Taliban in Zaranj, and he commented that Zaranj is a small border city and is not difficult for the Taliban to capture.
