Cylinder blast inside passenger van in Pakistan's Punjab kills 9, injures 7

At least nine people were killed and seven others injured on late Sunday night when a cylinder in a passenger van exploded in Gujranwala, Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, according to local media.

Per reports, the van caught fire after the cylinder exploded. An investigation into the incident is underway. 

On the same day, another blast took place in Quetta, capital of the southwestern Balochistan province.

At least two policemen were killed and 21 others were injured in an explosion near Quetta's Unity Chowk area on Sunday evening, police sources said.

The blast occurred when a police car on routine patrol was passing by the site, according to the police. Police said the explosive material was planted on a motorbike, adding that the police vehicle was targeted in the attack.

No group or individual has claimed the responsibility for the attack yet.
