Type 055 destroyer Nanchang has been independently developed by China. It is equipped with 130 mm naval guns, Type 1130 close-in weapon system, HQ-10 air defense missiles and a vertical launching system with 32 cells. The ship has a fully loaded displacement of more than 13,000 tonnes, reaching the size of a traditional cruiser, even larger than the U.S. Navy's Ticonderoga-class cruiser and the Russian Navy's Project 1164 Atlant (Glory class). It is the world's second largest destroyer. The Nanchang is a landmark destroyer for the Chinese Navy to realize the strategic purpose of "offshore waters defense and open seas protection."
