The U.S. government has been using "long-arm jurisdiction" as a tool of hegemony to crack down on foreign entities, meddle in other countries' internal affairs and even to subvert a nation's political power, a Xinjiang official told a press briefing on Thursday.

The remark, made by Xu Guixiang, a spokesperson of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region government, came after reports that some U.S. lawmakers claimed they would advance a Xinjiang-related bill into law so that Washington could impose sanctions over so-called "human rights violations" in the Chinese region. 

The Chinese official warned long-arm jurisdiction will only lead the Western power's hegemony to madness and ultimate failure.
