New Chinese Ambassador to the United States Qin Gang on Friday told the representative of a trade group from America that Beijing will "open its door even wider" to the outside world.

Trade cooperation between the two countries is mutually beneficial and win-win in nature, Qin told Craig Allen, president of the U.S.-China Business Council.

"It is hoped that the Chinese and American business communities will continue to enhance communication and cooperation so as to inject positive energy into China-U.S. relations," the diplomat added, according to a release published by the Embassy's official website.

Qin, 55, took up his post in late July amid the strained relationship between the world's two largest economies plus the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Days ago when he met Deputy Secretary of State of the U.S. Wendy Sherman, he struck an optimistic tone on bilateral ties, hoping that the two countries can "properly manage differences and disagreements, and improve the bilateral relations."

During their Friday meeting, Allen said that his organization will "further promote the friendly exchanges and win-win cooperation between the United States and China," according to the release.
