Cuba has begun to distribute humanitarian aid, including food, fuel and medicine, from its allies following protests last month over a lack of supplies.

Mexico, Nicaragua, China and Russia, as well as organizations such as the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund and the World Food Program, were among the donors. The need came from the economic slowdown triggered by the pandemic, and a punishing economic blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States.
