Dignity in death
15:54

In May, India descended into what many called "COVID-19 hell." Its healthcare system collapsed as the number of cases and deaths reached all-time highs. Many patients died from the lack of oxygen. Crematoriums were so full that people started mass cremations in makeshift facilities.
During this time, a group called the Mercy Angels risked their lives to ensure COVID-19 victims who died alone, had a dignified funeral.
Jyothy Karat followed two Mercy Angels volunteers, Tanveer Ahmed and Sadiq Hussain, as they collected unclaimed bodies and joined in long queues at crematoriums to give the deceased the last rites they deserve.
