The latest heatwave has sparked heat and humidity warnings across southern Europe, with Italy probably the hardest hit. According to Xinhua, dozens of Italian municipalities have reported temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius this week, with several topping 45 degrees.

Photos show bears at Rome zoo playing with frozen watermelon and lemurs eating frozen fruits to cool off as temperatures reached 37 degrees Celsius on August 16, 2021.
