Yue Xiaoyong, the special envoy for Afghan affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, visited Iran on Monday and exchanged views on developments in Afghanistan with Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

In an exclusive interview, Yue Xiaoyong told CGTN that China respects Afghan sovereignty and territorial integrity and independence and China respects the Afghan people's will and choice.

"Afghan people have made a choice and we respect their choice. We also in this process, we hope Afghan political forces, including Taliban, will fulfill their promises," Yue said.
