1.2 million people affected by Haiti earthquake, nearly 2,000 dead

Around 1.2 million people, including 540,000 children, have been impacted by the magnitude-7.2 earthquake which struck southwestern Haiti on August 14, according to the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF). The quake left at least 1,941 people dead and more than 6,900 injured, and the toll is expected to rise in the coming days.
