The Chinese mainland recorded 28 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, with six being local transmissions and 22 from overseas, the latest data from the National Health Commission showed on Wednesday.

In addition, 17 new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 500 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

This brings the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland to 94,500 with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 12,039 (11,753 recoveries, 212 deaths)

Macao: 63 (59 recoveries)

Taiwan: 15,880 (13,195 recoveries, 821 deaths)
