A whale shark was spotted swimming off the coast of Zhangzidao Island in northeast China's Dalian City.

The shark is the largest known fish species remaining in the world. Its slow swimming speed and docile character have earned it the name "dumb shark" in China. Each individual is distinguished by the unique pattern of grey or white dots on its skin.
