After the major changes in Afghanistan, the Afghan Taliban leaders and spokesperson have openly stated through different channels that they will solve the problems and build an open and inclusive Islamic government.

They said they will protect the safety of Afghan citizens and foreign missions in Afghanistan, want to establish good relations with other countries, and will never allow any terrorist forces to use the Afghan territory to threaten other countries.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said China has noted these positive statements. She said the Chinese side believes that the Taliban will not repeat the history of the past, adding that the Taliban is more rational today than when it was last in power.

"We encourage and hope the Taliban will put their promises into practice and unite with other Afghan parties and ethnic groups to establish a political structure through dialogue and consultations as soon as possible, a structure in line with the country's conditions, supported by its people and that is extensively inclusive," said Hua.

"We hope the Taliban will implement moderate and steady domestic and foreign policies, curb any kind of terrorism and criminal acts, and ensure a smooth transition of the Afghan situation."

The Chinese spokeswoman also conceded that a peaceful reconstruction of Afghanistan will not be smooth, since there have been all kinds of confrontations in Afghanistan, and the U.S. has left a lot of problems unresolved.

She said China hopes the international community will encourage and support all factions in Afghanistan to work together to open a new chapter in the country's history.
