The total number of COVID-19 cases in Thailand surpassed one million on Friday, driven by a continued surge in infections, primarily attributed to the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant.

The country's total tally of infections now stands at 1,009,710 with the death toll at 8,826, Ministry of Public Health data showed.
