Rap and hip-hop music started gaining ground in China in the 1980s and it continues to grow. Hip-hop is expected to reach a market of over $700 million by 2024 with an average annual growth of over 25 percent. With an increasing number of women using rap and hip-hop to tell their stories, female rappers are believed by some to be major players in this fast-growing music genre.
