Magnitude-6.9 quake hits South Sandwich Islands region: USGS

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 jolted the South Sandwich Islands region at 00:45 GMT on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake had a depth of 10 kilometers, the USGS said.

The U.S. Tsunami Warning System said there was no tsunami warning after the earthquake.
