End of heat, or chushu in Chinese, is the 14th solar term on the Chinese lunar calendar, which falls on August 23 this year.
Putting an end to the hot summer, it heralds in autumn in most parts of China. However, in some areas, especially in South China, autumn comes late, and it is still hot. End of heat is also the busy harvest season.
