Chinese rover Zhurong had traveled over 1,000 meters on the surface of Mars as of Monday, a new record made on the 100th day of its landing on the red planet, according to China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).

Launched on July 23, 2020, Zhurong landed on Mars on May 15. It had completed its planned exploration tasks by August 15.

The rover will continue to drive to the southern part of the Utopia Planitia, the area where it landed, the CASC said.
