The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) has authorized emergency use of the Chinese Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine, the Director General of the JFDA Nizar Muhaidat announced on Monday.

Jordan commenced a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign on Jan. 13 with the priority for the vulnerable groups and frontline health workers.

Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine is the ninth approved COVID-19 vaccine in the kingdom.

Jordan has so far reported 790,450 COVID-19 infections with 10,308 deaths.
