The flag of Afghanistan featured Tuesday night at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics as a symbol of "solidarity and peace." The flag was held by a volunteer as no athlete from the country was able to reach Tokyo.

Earlier, Ileana Rodriguez, leader of the Refugee Paralympic Team said that they want to send the message of hope and their hearts go out to all the people of Afghanistan.
