The United Kingdom is pushing for economic sanctions on the Taliban. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who currently leads the G7, has called a virtual meeting on Tuesday in the wake of the Taliban's swift takeover of Afghanistan.

Speaking to CGTN's Beatrice Marshall, Taliban spokesperson Mohammad Shaheen said any sanctions would be a "biased decision ... against the people of Afghanistan."
